Completed 2018 MR340

Just completed a new and completely different kayaking event....the MR340 (www.rivermiles.com).  They bill this race as the longest continuous race in the world.

The race starts at Kaw Point, Kansas City, KS which is one of the places Lewis and Clark camped on their "Corps of Discovery" that was commissioned by Thomas Jefferson.  The end is in St. Charles, Mo which is a suburb of St. Louis....The race is basically a race across the state of Missouri.
Racers have 88 hours to complete 338.6 miles.  Historically, 1/4 of the entrants don't show and 1/3 of the ones that do attempt the race don't finish.  My goal for the race was to finish and try to raise money for the Dementia Society of America (raised $3,303).

We left NJ on the 18th of July as we had a couple of business stops on the way in Illinois.  We arrived in Independence, Mo on 7/22.  You drop off your boats on 7/23 as the race starts at 7 am on Tuesday and you have to complete the race by midnight on 7/27.  There is a mandatory orientation at 7 pm on the night before the race.

Here are the details on the race: Link: 2018 MR 340 Race
