My daughter Justine and I went to the normal drop off on River Rd near the water plant. Today was a hot day so we were looking to enjoy cool cruise on the river. There was a boom of some type installed by the bridge where we drop the boats. I assume the boom keeps debris from going down stream. It had shifted over to the bank that we were attempting to deploy our boats. I was able to push Justine over it without much trouble. I had a significant challenge getting over it myself. I think next time I may try to launch from the other side of the bridge.
While were were getting in the water, a couple in a canoe passed up by going down the river. A dad dropped his wife, dog, and daughter in an inflatable raft as well.
After we started, we quickly over took the people in the raft. It took a bit but we caught the people in the canoe as well. We spoke to them and they had put in up near Walmart near Clinton.
There were quite a few more people on the river than normal due to the heat. We say 5 people with dogs letting the dogs play and cool in the water. The water was delightfully cool which kept us very comfy in our kayaks.
The gage height at Stanton Station registered about 3.2 ft which was plenty deep however both Justine and I did run aground mainly because we were not paying enough attention. The river was fast and fun with lots of mini rapids.
Overall Justine and I had nice float.
